ive quickly discovered that the commute is a huge part of the nyc experience. the journey, the way, the path is not merely steps in the process but a major player. since wednesday i've done a good deal of walking. i've been on the subway for a while. just yesterday (sunday) i spent some time on a bus. so much happens during these (what i found so far to always be 40 minute) commutes. interesting characters, amazing music, thoughts etched into my notepad, thoughts bouncing across the walls of my brain - expectations, anxieties, hopes, fears – all waiting to be played out.
my thoughts mean more to me in this new city, especially when I’m traveling alone. i’m still feeling things out, letting myself trust what’s out here. i’ve yet to meet new folks (which will change come September). so I have me.
i know, I’m not really alone. i have very close and special folks here in nyc with me. it’s time to find ME though. it’s exciting. it’s a trip, a process, a commute. and so far, it’s starting off on the right foot.

a glimmer of Obama shining down on Central Park, and on my future
